Professor Scholarship

This scholarship is for university and college professors who teach a minimum number of credit hours.

Applicants must not be currently registered CFA® Program candidates. If you are considering applying for a Professor Scholarship, be sure to read all of the information below. 

We have made significant changes to the program and all applicants are expected to understand these changes before applying.

  1. Award amount

    CFA Program enrollment fee is waived and exam registration is reduced to USD400.  
    For scholarships awarded beginning 1 September 2024, the price will increase to USD600.

  2. Application window

    The Professor Scholarship Program accepts applications from 1 September through 15 July.

  3. Eligibility requirements

    For full-time college/university professors or administrators/department heads who teach a minimum number of credit hours at qualified institutions and are not currently registered for a CFA® exam. In addition, applicants must meet the enrollment criteria and requirements for CFA Program.

    Complete the application

    To apply, you must be a full-time college/university professor teaching a minimum of 6 credit hours per quarter or semester, or an administrators/department head who teaches a minimum of 3 credit hours per quarter or semester at a qualified institution.

    Login and complete the Professor Scholarship Application. The application requirements are outlined below. You will submit these documents as part of your online application.

    1. English Language Letter

    Obtain an English language letter, on university letterhead signed by an administrator (such as Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, President, Vice President, Principal, Dean, Provost, or Rector) at your institution attesting that you are a full-time professor at the university/college and confirming the number of credit hours taught per quarter or semester.

    Include one of the following forms of employment verification with your online application:

    • Copy (front and back) of a university-issued identification card.
    • Copy of a teaching license from the issuing government agency.
    • A current list of publications, research papers, or other information that confirms university affiliation or faculty relationship.

    You must submit the required documentation with your online application to be reviewed for eligibility. Applications will be reviewed and awarded by CFA Institute. All decisions are final.

    You should allow 7-10 business days from the time you receive the scholarship award notification for your discounted registration fee to be available.

    Professor scholarships awarded after 1 September 2024 are valid for 6 months. Please refer to your award decision email for more details.

    If you fail to utilize your scholarship by not registering, not scheduling, or not appearing for the exam, you will not be eligible to receive future scholarships. 

    Candidates registering with a scholarship are not permitted to purchase a paid deferral but may request an emergency deferral if they meet the specified criteria.

    To support you in your efforts, we would like to offer you the early exam registration fee for your next exam registration. Please await the official decision notification from our Scholarships team for instructions on registering at the lower fee. If you register before receiving this notification you will not receive a refund for paying the higher registration fee. This option is only valid if the registration window is still open for the applicable window.
